OUR STORY
The idea for FiberSprung came when Spencer Hering lost a wood-sprung dance floor to a sprinkler system malfunction. Afterwards, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria destroyed a plethora of sprung floors in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico in the summer of 2017, highlighting the need for a flood-proof flooring system. Spencer had built dance floors in the past and got to thinking there has to be a better way. Spencer and Micah got to work on the first FiberSprung prototypes after a sailboat race in Key West.
High performance composites such as fiberglass can be used as quality waterproof replacements for wood. The FiberSprung team matched the bend characteristics of a wooden sprung floor with fiberglass using aerospace grade materials and structural engineering. The team developed and patented an elastomer and aluminum fitting method allowing the fiberglass lattice to be modular and reusable.
