The idea for FiberSprung came when Spencer Hering lost a wood-sprung dance floor to a sprinkler system malfunction. Afterwards, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria destroyed a plethora of sprung floors in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico in the summer of 2017, highlighting the need for a flood-proof flooring system. Spencer had built dance floors in the past and got to thinking there has to be a better way.

On his final day as a professional dancer, Spencer brought up this idea to product designer Micah Reyes. Micah has a background in composites design through aerospace and yacht design and quickly realized the potential to use composites to increase lifetime, improve consistency, and improve the quaility of sprung floors. This is how FiberSprung was born.

FiberSprung uses high performance, long lasting composites such as fiberglass as long lasting replacements for wood within basket-weave dance floors. The FiberSprung team matched the bend characteristics of a basket-weave wooden sprung floor using structural engineering and developed and patented an elastomer and aluminum fitting method allowing the fiberglass lattice to be modular and reusable.
